Former Lady Eagles

Ashley Blaney who was a First Team All State selection 2 years ago is still on scholarship and seeing significant time for West Virginia Tech.
Camisha Alexander was a First Team All State selection last year has started her career at Youngstown State of with a bang. She hit 3 three's, had 5 assists and a total of 11 points in a little over 20 minutes of playing time Monday night. last night she had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 4 turnovers.
We wish nothing but the best for both of them!

Radio

The same guys that broadcast our boy's games on 99.5 FM came by to tell me that everything is ready for them to broadcast at least 11 of our games. Same format as the boys and possibly the only girl's team on a state wide FM station. they actually said that the response for sponsorship and ads had been much more than was expected. This great. I know that family members who are out of state can now listen to our games on the Web and still be able to follow their team.

11/19 Practice 9

Practices are going great! We still have 21 girls out and all are working hard. Our seniors are determined to get back to Charleston and atone for last year's embarrassing lost to Parkersburg South. The Freshman class could be as good as this year's Senior class was and will probably seem some Varsity time this season. The Seniors however, have let it be known that they will have to work very hard to meet the standards that they have set for the Freshmen. The Seniors have wasted no time in establishing a "pecking order" during practice. As of right now, the coaching staff feels that we are right on schedule and have no complaints about effort from our players.

Sectional Meeting

At the end of last season the SSAC determined that the current State Tournament setup was inadequate and that somehow the best teams were not getting to the State Tournament. They somewhat arbitrarily decided to change the setup. No longer will us winning in Fayetteville get us to Charleston. An extra game has to be played. Now the win of our section-last years region- Meets the loser of our other section. The loser in our section will play at the other winner's home site. The intial sectionals included South Charleston but they somehow were left out of the second realignment-most likely because of the Boy's team. On the Boys' side, our region will be the toughest erver. At least 6 teams will be in the Top 10 when tournament play begins.

For us, there will be at least 4 Top 10 teams, Parkersburg South, Ripley, Princeton, maybe George Washington and us.

By the way, our Section is composed of Princeton, Greenbrier East, Riverside, Woodrow Willson and new this year-Nicholas County. The other section is made up of: Parkersburg South, Ripley, George Washington, Parkersburg, and Capital.

Great Start

So far we have had great practices! Girls are intense, in shape, and willing to run. We kept 21 and have everyone we wanted. We have 6 seniors-my most ever-3 juniors, 6 sophomores and 6 freshmen. We will be very quick and very "athletic". We will also be fairly small. We have only one girl over 5'10" and she's a freshman. The girls love the new floor. They seem to be ready for the work that will be required of them to get them in the state tournament. This is not unusual early in the season though. But, it's a great start.
